La caída de Jerusalén

17 Entonces el SEÑOR envió contra ellos al rey de los babilonios, quien dentro del mismo templo mató a espada a los jóvenes, y no tuvo compasión de jóvenes ni de doncellas, ni de adultos ni de ancianos. A todos se los entregó Dios en sus manos.

2 Chronicles 36:17

Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldees
Nebuchadnezzar; and though it was the rebellion of Zedekiah which was the cause and occasion of his coming against them, yet it was the Lord that moved him to it, and gave him success:

who slew their young men with the sword, in the house of the sanctuary;
in the temple, where they took sanctuary, imagining that sacred place would protect them from the rage of the enemy, but it did not:

and had no compassion on young man or maiden, old man, or him that
stooped for age;
spared none on account of age or sex, but put them all to the sword, or carried them captive:

he gave them into his hand;
that is, the Lord delivered them into the hand of the king of Babylon, for their sins.

15 Por amor a su pueblo y al lugar donde habita, el SEÑOR, Dios de sus antepasados, con frecuencia les enviaba advertencias por medio de sus mensajeros.

16 Pero ellos se burlaban de los mensajeros de Dios, tenían en poco sus palabras, y se mofaban de sus profetas. Por fin, el SEÑOR desató su ira contra el pueblo, y ya no hubo remedio.

17 Entonces el SEÑOR envió contra ellos al rey de los babilonios, quien dentro del mismo templo mató a espada a los jóvenes, y no tuvo compasión de jóvenes ni de doncellas, ni de adultos ni de ancianos. A todos se los entregó Dios en sus manos.

18 Todos los utensilios del templo de Dios, grandes y pequeños, más los tesoros del templo y los del rey y de sus oficiales, fueron llevados a Babilonia.

19 Incendiaron el templo de Dios, derribaron la muralla de Jerusalén, prendieron fuego a sus palacios y destruyeron todos los objetos de valor que allí había.
