And David gathered all the people together
The soldiers that were with him, or near him; which was done partly to recruit Joab's troops, who, by the continuance of the siege, and the sallies of the enemy on them, might be greatly diminished; and partly to make conquests of other cities of the Ammonites, and to carry off the spoil of them:

and went to Rabbah;
which must be after the death of Uriah, and very probably during the time of Bathsheba's mourning for him:

and fought against it, and took it;
by assault.

27 Entonces envió unos mensajeros a decirle a David: «Acabo de atacar a Rabá y he capturado los depósitos de agua.

28 Ahora, pues, le pido a Su Majestad que movilice el resto de las tropas para sitiar y capturar la ciudad. Si no, lo haré yo mismo y le pondrán mi nombre».

30 Al rey de los amonitas le quitó la corona de oro que tenía puesta, la cual pesaba más de treinta kilos y estaba adornada con piedras preciosas. Luego se la pusieron a David. Además, David saqueó la ciudad y se llevó un botín inmenso.

31 Expulsó de allí a sus habitantes y los puso a trabajar con sierras, trillos y hachas, y también los forzó a trabajar en los hornos de ladrillos. Lo mismo hizo con todos los pueblos amonitas, después de lo cual regresó a Jerusalén con todas sus tropas.
