15 Así que pasaron al frente doce jóvenes del ejército benjaminita de Isboset hijo de Saúl, y doce de los siervos de David.

2 Samuel 2:15

Then there arose and went over by number twelve of Benjamin,
&c.] Whom Abner had picked out of that tribe, being his own, and whom he knew to be stout and courageous men, and closely attached to him. It seems by this as if Abner's men,

[which pertained to] Ishbosheth, the son of Saul,
passed over the pool of Gibeon unto Joab's men; so forward were they to engage in this duel, and it makes it still more appear that they were the aggressors:

and twelve of the servants of David;
of his army under Joab, whom Joab either selected, or they, offered themselves as willing to engage with the twelve that were come over.

13 Joab hijo de Sarvia, por su parte, salió al frente de las tropas de David. Los dos ejércitos se encontraron en el estanque de Gabaón y tomaron posiciones en lados opuestos.
14 Entonces Abner le dijo a Joab:—Propongo que salgan unos cuantos jóvenes y midan sus armas en presencia de nosotros.—De acuerdo —respondió Joab.
15 Así que pasaron al frente doce jóvenes del ejército benjaminita de Isboset hijo de Saúl, y doce de los siervos de David.
16 Cada soldado agarró a su rival por la cabeza y le clavó la espada en el costado, de modo que ambos combatientes murieron al mismo tiempo. Por eso a aquel lugar, que queda cerca de Gabaón, se le llama Jelcat Hazurín.
17 Aquel día la batalla fue muy dura, y los siervos de David derrotaron a Abner y a los soldados de Israel.
