28 Luego Josué incendió la ciudad, reduciéndola a escombros, como permanece hasta el día de hoy.

Joshua 8:28

And Joshua burnt Ai
The whole city, fire being only set before to a few houses, to make a smoke as a signal; he did with it as he had done with Jericho, for so he was ordered, ( Joshua 8:2 ) ;

and made it an heap for ever;
that is, for a long time, for it appears to have been rebuilt, and to have been inhabited by the Jews, after their return from their Babylonish captivity, ( Nehemiah 11:31 ) ;

[even] a desolation unto this day;
to the time of the writing of this book; and by what has been just observed, it appears that Ezra could not be the writer of it, since this city was inhabited in his time.

26 Josué mantuvo extendido el brazo con el que sostenía su jabalina, hasta que el ejército israelita exterminó a todos los habitantes de Hai.

27 Y tal como el SEÑOR había mandado, el pueblo se quedó con el botín de guerra y todo el ganado.

28 Luego Josué incendió la ciudad, reduciéndola a escombros, como permanece hasta el día de hoy.

29 También mandó ahorcar en un árbol al rey de Hai, y ordenó que dejaran su cuerpo colgando hasta la tarde. Al ponerse el sol, Josué mandó que bajaran el cuerpo del rey y lo arrojaran a la entrada de la ciudad. Así mismo, pidió que se amontonaran piedras encima del cadáver. Y ese montón de piedras permanece hasta el día de hoy.

30 Entonces Josué levantó, en el monte Ebal, un altar al SEÑOR, Dios de Israel,
