Then said Elijah unto the people, I, even I only remain a
prophet of the Lord
At least as he thought, all the rest being slain, as he supposed; however there were none present but himself:

but Baal's prophets are four hundred and fifty men;
which were very great odds he had to contend with.

20 Acabe convocou entĂŁo todo o Israel e reuniu os profetas no monte Carmelo.
21 Elias dirigiu-se ao povo e disse: “AtĂ© quando vocĂȘs vĂŁo oscilar para um lado e para o outro? Se o SENHOR Ă© Deus, sigam-no; mas, se Baal Ă© Deus, sigam-no”.O povo, porĂ©m, nada respondeu.
22 Disse entĂŁo Elias: “Eu sou o Ășnico que restou dos profetas do SENHOR, mas Baal tem quatrocentos e cinquenta profetas.
23 Tragam dois novilhos. Escolham eles um, cortem-no em pedaços e o ponham sobre a lenha, mas não acendam fogo. Eu prepararei o outro novilho e o colocarei sobre a lenha, e também não acenderei fogo nela.
24 EntĂŁo vocĂȘs invocarĂŁo o nome do seu deus, e eu invocarei o nome do SENHOR. O deus que responder por meio do fogo, esse Ă© Deus”.EntĂŁo todo o povo disse: “O que vocĂȘ disse Ă© bom”.
