2 Kings 18:7

And the Lord was with him
The Word of the Lord was for his help, as the Targum:

and he prospered whithersoever he went forth;
that is, to war:

and he rebelled against the king of Assyria:
which is explained in the next clause:

and served him not;
he refused to be his servant, as his father Ahaz had been, ( 2 Kings 16:7 ) , to which he was not obliged by any agreement of his; and, if it was in his power, might lawfully shake off his yoke, which is all that is meant by rebelling against him; he refused to be tributary to him.

5 Ezequias confiava no SENHOR, o Deus de Israel. Nunca houve ninguém como ele entre todos os reis de Judá, nem antes nem depois dele.

6 Ele se apegou ao SENHOR e não deixou de segui-lo; obedeceu aos mandamentos que o SENHOR tinha dado a Moisés.

7 E o SENHOR estava com ele; era bem-sucedido em tudo o que fazia. Rebelou-se contra o rei da Assíria e deixou de submeter-se a ele.

8 Desde as torres das sentinelas até a cidade fortificada, ele derrotou os filisteus, até Gaza e o seu território.

9 No quarto ano do reinado do rei Ezequias, o sétimo ano do reinado de Oseias, filho de Elá, rei de Israel, Salmaneser, rei da Assíria, marchou contra Samaria e a cercou.
