A Conquista de Jerusalém

6 O rei e seus soldados marcharam para Jerusalém para atacar os jebuseus que viviam lá. E os jebuseus disseram a Davi: “Você não entrará aqui! Até os cegos e os aleijados podem se defender de você”. Eles achavam que Davi não conseguiria entrar,
7 mas Davi conquistou a fortaleza de Sião, que veio a ser a Cidade de Davi.
8 Naquele dia disse Davi: “Quem quiser vencer os jebuseus terá que utilizar a passagem de água para chegar àqueles cegos e aleijados, inimigos de Davi”.[a] É por isso que dizem: “Os ‘cegos e aleijados’ não entrarão no palácio”.[b]
9 Davi passou a morar na fortaleza e chamou-a Cidade de Davi. Construiu defesas na parte interna da cidade desde o Milo.[c]
10 E ele se tornou cada vez mais poderoso, pois o SENHOR, o Deus dos Exércitos, estava com ele.

In this chapter we have an account of all the tribes of Israel coming to Hebron, and anointing David king over them, 2Sa 5:1-5; of his expedition against the Jebusites in Jerusalem, and taking from them the strong hold of Zion, 2Sa 5:6-10; of his building an house for himself, and of his building up his family, by taking more wives and concubines, and having more children, whose names are given, 2Sa 5:11-16; and of an invasion of the land by the Philistines, and David's victory over them, 2Sa 5:17-25.
