Ezequiel 35

Profecia contra Edom

1 Esta palavra do SENHOR veio a mim:

2 “Filho do homem, vire o rosto contra o monte Seir; profetize contra ele

3 e diga: Assim diz o Soberano, o SENHOR: Estou contra você, monte Seir, e estenderei o meu braço contra você e farei de você um deserto arrasado.

4 Transformarei as suas cidades em ruínas, e você ficará arrasado. Então você saberá que eu sou o SENHOR.

5 “Visto que você manteve uma velha hostilidade e entregou os israelitas à espada na hora da desgraça, na hora em que o castigo deles chegou,

6 por isso, juro pela minha vida, palavra do Soberano, o SENHOR, que entregarei você ao espírito sanguinário, e este o perseguirá. Uma vez que você não detestou o espírito sanguinário, este o perseguirá.

7 Farei do monte Seir um deserto arrasado e dele eliminarei todos os que por ali vêm e vão.

8 Encherei seus montes de mortos; os mortos à espada cairão em suas colinas, em seus vales e em todas as suas ravinas.

9 Arrasarei você para sempre; suas cidades ficarão inabitáveis. Então você saberá que eu sou o SENHOR.

10 “Uma vez que você disse: ‘Estas duas nações e povos serão nossos e nos apossaremos deles’, estando eu, o SENHOR, ali,

11 juro pela minha vida, palavra do Soberano, o SENHOR, que tratarei você de acordo com a ira e o ciúme que você mostrou em seu ódio para com eles e me farei conhecido entre eles quando eu julgar você.

12 Então você saberá que eu, o SENHOR, ouvi todas as coisas desprezíveis que você disse contra os montes de Israel. Você disse: ‘Eles foram arrasados e nos foram entregues para que os devoremos’.

13 Você encheu-se de orgulho contra mim e falou contra mim sem se conter, e eu o ouvi.

14 Pois assim diz o Soberano, o SENHOR: Enquanto a terra toda se regozija, eu o arrasarei.

15 Como você se regozijou quando a herança da nação de Israel foi arrasada, é assim que eu o tratarei. Você ficará arrasado, ó monte Seir, você e todo o Edom. Então saberão que eu sou o SENHOR.

Chapter 35

A prophecy against Edom.

Verses 1-9 All who have God against them, have the word of God against them. Those that have a constant hatred to God and his people, as the carnal mind has, can only expect to be made desolate for ever.

Verses 10-15 When we see the vanity of the world in the disappointments, losses, and crosses, which others meet with, instead of showing ourselves greedy of worldly things, we should sit more loose to them. In the multitude of words, not one is unknown to God; not the most idle word; and the most daring is not above his rebuke. In the destruction of the enemies of the church, God designs his own glory; and we may be sure that he will not come short of his design. And when the fulness of the Jews and Gentiles shall come into the church, all antichristian opposers shall be destroyed.

INTRODUCTION TO EZEKIEL 35

This chapter is a prophecy of the destruction of Edom, which is threatened, Eze 35:1-4, the cause of it, their hatred and slaughter of the Israelites, Eze 35:5-9, their claim of the lands of Israel and Judah for possession, Eze 35:10,11, their blasphemies against the people of God, and the Lord himself, Eze 35:12,13, the aggravation of their ruin, which was irretrievable; that when it was well with others, it should go ill with them; by way of just retaliation, Eze 35:14,15.
