Leviticus 22:20

For whatsoever hath a blemish, that shall ye not offer
Which is the general rule, the particulars of which are after given, and which has been imitated by the Heathens. The Egyptians, as they only sacrificed the males of beeves, so they were very curious in examining them, that they might be entirely pure and perfect ^F19; and it was a custom among the Romans, that such sheep should be chosen for sacrifice, in which there was nothing wanting ^F20; and so, among the Grecians, Homer ^F21 speaks of perfect goats offered in sacrifice to appease the gods: for it shall not be acceptable for you;
be grateful to God, and accepted by him on their account, if blemished; see ( Malachi 1:13 Malachi 1:14 ) .

18 “Diga o seguinte a Arão e a seus filhos e a todos os israelitas: Se algum de vocês—seja israelita, seja estrangeiro residente em Israel—, apresentar uma oferta como holocausto ao SENHOR—quer para cumprir voto, quer como oferta voluntária—,

19 apresentará um macho sem defeito do rebanho, isto é, um boi, um carneiro ou um bode, a fim de que seja aceito em seu favor.

20 Não tragam nenhum animal defeituoso, porque não será aceito em favor de vocês.

21 Quando alguém trouxer um animal do gado ou do rebanho de ovelhas como oferta de comunhão para o SENHOR, em cumprimento de voto ou como oferta voluntária, o animal, para ser aceitável, não poderá ter defeito nem mácula.

22 Não ofereçam ao SENHOR animal cego, aleijado, mutilado, ulceroso, cheio de feridas purulentas ou com fluxo. Não coloquem nenhum desses animais sobre o altar como oferta ao SENHOR, preparada no fogo.
