Lévitique 22:8 Meaning and Commentary

Leviticus 22:8

That which dieth of itself, or is torn [with beasts]
Whether fowls or beasts, and even clean ones, which, had they been killed in a proper manner, were fit to cut, but dying of themselves, or torn to pieces by other birds or beasts of prey, might not, see ( Ezekiel 44:31 ) ; he shall not eat, to defile himself therewith;
being impure food, at least in a ceremonial sense, and not fit to be eaten; these things were forbid a common Israelite, and much less might a priest eat of them, see ( Leviticus 17:15 ) ; I [am] the Lord;
who enjoin this, and expect to be obeyed.

6 Celui qui touchera ces choses sera souillé jusqu'au soir; il ne mangera point des choses consacrées, mais il lavera son corps dans l'eau.
7 Et aprĂšs le coucher du soleil il sera pur, et ensuite il pourra manger des choses saintes, car c'est sa nourriture.
8 Il ne mangera point d'une bĂȘte morte d'elle-mĂȘme, ou dĂ©chirĂ©e, afin de ne pas en ĂȘtre souillĂ©: Je suis l'Éternel.
9 Qu'ils observent donc ce que j'ai ordonnĂ©, de peur qu'ils ne portent leur pĂ©chĂ©, et qu'ils ne meurent pour avoir profanĂ© les choses saintes: Je suis l'Éternel qui les sanctifie.
10 Or nul étranger ne mangera des choses consacrées; celui qui demeure chez un sacrificateur, et le mercenaire, ne mangeront point des choses saintes.
