Romans 15:22

For which cause also
By reason of being employed for so many years, in preaching the Gospel from Jerusalem, round about to Illyricum; taking so large a compass to minister in, and striving to introduce, propagate, and spread the Gospel, where Christ was never named before:

I have been much hindered from coming to you;
or he had been often, and by many ways, and upon many accounts, hindered from coming to them; the frequent calls to different and distant places, and the great work of preaching the Gospel in those dark parts of the world, and settling churches there, which was upon his hands, prevented his giving them a visit at Rome, which he much and often desired: as in the preceding verses the apostle excuses his freedom of writing to this church, so here his long delay of coming to them, assigning the reason of it.

20 Prenant ainsi Ă  tĂąche d'annoncer l'Évangile oĂč Christ n'avait point Ă©tĂ© nommĂ©, afin de ne pas bĂątir sur le fondement qu'un autre aurait posĂ©;
21 Selon qu'il est écrit: Ceux à qui il n'avait point été annoncé, le verront, et ceux qui n'en avaient point entendu parler, l'entendront.
22 C'est pour cela que j'ai Ă©tĂ© souvent empĂȘchĂ© d'aller chez vous.
23 Mais, comme à présent je n'ai plus affaire dans ce pays-ci, et que depuis plusieurs années j'ai un grand désir d'aller vers vous,
24 Quand je me rendrai en Espagne, j'irai chez vous; car j'espĂšre que je vous verrai en passant, et que vous m'y ferez conduire, aprĂšs que j'aurai satisfait en partie mon dĂ©sir d'ĂȘtre avec vous.
