1 Après cela David battit les Philistins et les abaissa; et David enleva Méthegamma des mains des Philistins.

And after this it came to pass that Dovid struck the Pelishtim, and subdued them; and Dovid took Meteg Ammah out of the yad (hand, control) of the Pelishtim.
2 Il battit aussi les Moabites, et les mesura au cordeau, en les faisant coucher par terre; il en mesura deux cordeaux pour les faire mourir, et un plein cordeau pour leur laisser la vie; et les Moabites furent soumis à David et ses tributaires.

And he struck Moav, and measured them with a chevel (cord, rope), casting them down to the ground; even with two chavalim (ropes, cords) measured he to put to death, and with one full chevel (cord) to keep alive. And so Moav became to Dovid as avadim, and brought minchah (gifts, tribute).
3 David battit aussi Hadadézer, fils de Réhob, roi de Tsoba, comme il allait rétablir sa domination sur le fleuve de l'Euphrate.

Dovid struck also Hadadezer Ben Rechov Melech Tzovah, as he went to recover his yad (rule) at the nahar (river) Euphrates.
4 Et David lui prit dix-sept cents cavaliers, et vingt mille hommes de pied; et il coupa les jarrets aux chevaux de tous les chars, mais il en réserva cent chars.

And Dovid captured from him an elef and seven hundred parashim, and twenty elef foot soldiers; and Dovid hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for one hundred chariots.
5 Or les Syriens de Damas vinrent au secours de Hadadézer, roi de Tsoba; et David battit vingt-deux mille Syriens.

And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer Melech Tzovah, Dovid struck down the Syrians two and twenty elef ish.
6 Puis David mit des garnisons dans la Syrie de Damas, et les Syriens furent soumis à David et ses tributaires. Et l'Éternel gardait David partout où il allait.

Then Dovid put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became avadim to Dovid, and brought minchah. And Hashem saved Dovid wherever he went.
7 Et David prit les boucliers d'or qu'avaient les serviteurs de Hadadézer, et les apporta à Jérusalem.

And Dovid took the shields of zahav that were on the avadim of Hadadezer, and brought them to Yerushalayim.
8 Le roi David emporta aussi une très grande quantité d'airain de Bétach et de Bérothaï, villes de Hadadézer.

And from Betach [Tivchat, 1 Chr18:8], and from Berotai [Kun, 1 Chr 18:8], cities of Hadadezer, Dovid HaMelech took exceeding much nechoshet.
9 Or Thoï, roi de Hamath, apprit que David avait défait toutes les forces de Hadadézer.

When To’u Melech Chamat heard that Dovid had defeated all the army of Hadadezer,
10 Et il envoya Joram, son fils, vers le roi David, pour le saluer, et pour le bénir de ce qu'il avait fait la guerre contre Hadadézer et de ce qu'il l'avait défait. Car Hadadézer était continuellement en guerre avec Thoï. Et Joram apporta des vases d'argent, des vases d'or et des vases d'airain,

Then To’u sent Yoram bno unto Dovid HaMelech, to give him shalom greetings, and to put a berachah on him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and defeated him; for Hadadezer had been at war with To’u. And Yoram brought with him vessels of kesef, and vessels of zahav, and vessels of nechoshet;
11 Que David consacra à l'Éternel, avec l'argent et l'or qu'il avait déjà consacrés, du butin de toutes les nations qu'il s'était assujetties,

Which also Dovid HaMelech did dedicate as kodesh unto Hashem, with the kesef and zahav that he had dedicated as kodesh of kol HaGoyim which he subdued;
12 De la Syrie, de Moab, des enfants d'Ammon, des Philistins, d'Amalek, et du butin de Hadadézer, fils de Réhob, roi de Tsoba.

Of Syria, and of Moav, and of the Bnei Ammon, and of the Pelishtim, and of Amalek, and of the plunder of Hadadezer Ben Rechov Melech Tzovah.
13 David s'acquit encore du renom, à son retour de la défaite des Syriens, en battant, dans la vallée du Sel, dix-huit mille Iduméens,

And Dovid made himself a shem when he returned from striking down Edom in the Gey Melach, being eighteen elef men.
14 Et il mit des garnisons dans l'Idumée; il mit des garnisons dans toute l'Idumée, et l'Idumée entière fut soumise à David. Et l'Éternel gardait David partout où il allait.

And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all they of Edom became avadim to Dovid. And Hashem saved Dovid wherever he went.
15 Ainsi David régna sur tout Israël, faisant droit et justice à tout son peuple.

And Dovid reigned over kol Yisroel; and Dovid executed mishpat and tzedakah unto all his people.
16 Et Joab, fils de Tséruja, commandait l'armée; et Josaphat, fils d'Achilud, était archiviste;

And Yoav Ben Tzeruyah was over the army; and Yehoshaphat Ben Achilud was mazkir (secretary, recorder).
17 Et Tsadok, fils d'Achitub, et Achimélec, fils d'Abiathar, étaient sacrificateurs, et Séraja, secrétaire;

And Tzadok Ben Achituv, and Achimelech Ben Evyatar (Abiathar), were the kohanim; and Serayah was the sofer (scribe);
18 Et Bénaja, fils de Jéhojada, était sur les Kéréthiens et les Péléthiens, et les fils de David étaient ses principaux officiers.

And Benayah Ben Yehoyada was over both the Kereti and the Peleti; and Benei Dovid were kohanim [See Ps 110:4].
