Psalm 50

NIRV 1 The Mighty One, God, the Lord, speaks. He calls out to the earth from the sunrise in the east to the sunset in the west. NIV 1 The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to where it sets. NIRV 2 From Zion, perfect and beautiful, God's glory shines out. NIV 2 From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth. NIRV 3 Our God comes, and he won't be silent. A burning fire goes ahead of him. A terrible storm is all around him. NIV 3 Our God comes and will not be silent; a fire devours before him, and around him a tempest rages. NIRV 4 He calls out to heaven and earth to be his witnesses. Then he judges his people. NIV 4 He summons the heavens above, and the earth, that he may judge his people: NIRV 5 He says, "Gather my holy people around me. They made a covenant with me by offering a sacrifice." NIV 5 “Gather to me this consecrated people, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice.” NIRV 6 The heavens announce that what God decides is right. He himself is the Judge. "Selah" NIV 6 And the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for he is a God of justice. NIRV 7 God says, "Listen, my people, and I will speak. Listen, Israel, and I will give witness against you. I am God, your God. NIV 7 “Listen, my people, and I will speak; I will testify against you, Israel: I am God, your God. NIRV 8 I don't find fault with you because of your sacrifices. I don't find fault with the burnt offerings you always bring me. NIV 8 I bring no charges against you concerning your sacrifices or concerning your burnt offerings, which are ever before me. NIRV 9 I don't need a bull from your barn. I don't need goats from your pens. NIV 9 I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens, NIRV 10 Every animal in the forest already belongs to me. And so do the cattle on a thousand hills. NIV 10 for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. NIRV 11 I own every bird in the mountains. The creatures of the field belong to me. NIV 11 I know every bird in the mountains, and the insects in the fields are mine. NIRV 12 If I were hungry, I wouldn't tell you. The world belongs to me. And so does everything in it. NIV 12 If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it. NIRV 13 Do I eat the meat of bulls? Do I drink the blood of goats? NIV 13 Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats? NIRV 14 Bring me thank offerings, because I am your God. Carry out the promises you made to me, because I am the Most High God. NIV 14 “Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High, NIRV 15 Call out to me when trouble comes. I will save you. And you will honor me." NIV 15 and call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.” NIRV 16 But here is what God says to sinful people. "What right do you have to speak the words of my laws? How dare you speak the words of my covenant! NIV 16 But to the wicked person, God says: “What right have you to recite my laws or take my covenant on your lips? NIRV 17 You hate my teaching. You turn your back on what I say. NIV 17 You hate my instruction and cast my words behind you. NIRV 18 When you see a thief, you join him. You make friends with those who commit adultery. NIV 18 When you see a thief, you join with him; you throw in your lot with adulterers. NIRV 19 You use your mouth to speak evil. You use your tongue to spread lies. NIV 19 You use your mouth for evil and harness your tongue to deceit. NIRV 20 You always speak against your brother. You always tell lies about your own mother's son. NIV 20 You sit and testify against your brother and slander your own mother’s son. NIRV 21 You have done those things, and I kept silent. So you thought I was just like you. But now I'm going to correct you. I will bring charges against you. NIV 21 When you did these things and I kept silent, you thought I was exactly like you. But I now arraign you and set my accusations before you. NIRV 22 "You who forget God, think about this. If you don't, I will tear you to pieces. No one will be able to save you. NIV 22 “Consider this, you who forget God, or I will tear you to pieces, with no one to rescue you: NIRV 23 Anyone who sacrifices thank offerings to me honors me. He makes it possible for me to show him that I am the God who saves." NIV 23 Those who sacrifice thank offerings honor me, and to the blameless I will show my salvation.”
