Psalm 108

HNV

MSG

1 <<A Song. A Psalm by David.>> My heart is steadfast, God. I will sing and I will make music with my soul.
1 I'm ready, God, so ready, ready from head to toe. Ready to sing, ready to raise a God-song:
2 Wake up, harp and lyre! I will wake up the dawn.
2 "Wake, soul! Wake, lute! Wake up, you sleepyhead sun!"
3 I will give thanks to you, LORD, among the nations. I will sing praises to you among the peoples.
3 I'm thanking you, God, out in the streets, singing your praises in town and country.
4 For your lovingkindness is great above the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
4 The deeper your love, the higher it goes; every cloud's a flag to your faithfulness.
5 Be exalted, God, above the heavens, Let your glory be over all the eretz.
5 Soar high in the skies, O God! Cover the whole earth with your glory!
6 That your beloved may be delivered, Save with your right hand, and answer us.
6 And for the sake of the one you love so much, reach down and help me - answer me!
7 God has spoken from his sanctuary: "In triumph, I will divide Shekhem, and measure out the valley of Sukkot.
7 That's when God spoke in holy splendor: "Brimming over with joy, I make a present of Shechem, I hand out Succoth Valley as a gift.
8 Gil`ad is mine. Menashsheh is mine. Efrayim also is my helmet. Yehudah is my scepter.
8 Gilead's in my pocket, to say nothing of Manasseh. Ephraim's my hard hat, Judah my hammer.
9 Mo'av is my wash pot. I will toss my sandal on Edom. I will shout over Peleshet."
9 Moab's a scrub bucket - I mop the floor with Moab, Spit on Edom, rain fireworks all over Philistia."
10 Who will bring me into the fortified city? Who has led me to Edom?
10 Who will take me to the thick of the fight? Who'll show me the road to Edom?
11 Haven't you rejected us, God? You don't go forth, God, with our armies.
11 You aren't giving up on us, are you, God? refusing to go out with our troops?
12 Give us help against the enemy, For the help of man is vain.
12 Give us help for the hard task; human help is worthless.
13 Through God, we will do valiantly. For it is he who will tread down our enemies.
13 In God we'll do our very best; he'll flatten the opposition for good.
