1 Halelu-JAH. Sing unto the LORD a new song, let his praise <em>be</em> in the congregation of the merciful.

Praise the LORD.Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of his faithful people.
2 Let Israel rejoice with his Maker; let the sons of Zion be joyful with their King.

Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King.
3 Let them praise his name in the dance; let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.

Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp.
4 For the LORD takes pleasure in his people; he will beautify the humble with saving health.

For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.
5 The merciful shall be joyful with glory; they shall sing aloud upon their beds.

Let his faithful people rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds.
6 The high <em>praises</em> of God <em>shall be</em> in their mouth and a two-edged sword in their hand,

May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands,
7 to execute vengeance upon the Gentiles <em>and</em> punishments upon the peoples,

to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples,
8 to imprison their kings with fetters and their nobles with chains of iron,

to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with shackles of iron,
9 to execute upon them the judgment written: this shall be glory for all his merciful ones. Halelu-JAH.

to carry out the sentence written against them— this is the glory of all his faithful people. Praise the LORD.
