Psalm 3

HNV

MSG

1 <<A Psalm by David, when he fled from Avshalom, his son.>> LORD, how my adversaries have increased! Many are those who rise up against me.
1 God! Look! Enemies past counting! Enemies sprouting like mushrooms,
2 Many there are who say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.
2 Mobs of them all around me, roaring their mockery: "Hah! No help for him from God!"
3 But you, LORD, are a shield around me, My glory, and the one who lifts up my head.
3 But you, God, shield me on all sides; You ground my feet, you lift my head high;
4 I cry to the LORD with my voice, And he answers me out of his holy hill. Selah.
4 With all my might I shout up to God, His answers thunder from the holy mountain.
5 I laid myself down and slept. I awakened; for the LORD sustains me.
5 I stretch myself out. I sleep. Then I'm up again - rested, tall and steady,
6 I will not be afraid of tens of thousands of people Who have set themselves against me on every side.
6 Fearless before the enemy mobs Coming at me from all sides.
7 Arise, LORD! Save me, my God! For you have struck all of my enemies on the cheek bone. You have broken the teeth of the wicked.
7 Up, God! My God, help me! Slap their faces, First this cheek, then the other, Your fist hard in their teeth!
8 Salvation belongs to the LORD. Your blessing be on your people. Selah.
8 Real help comes from God. Your blessing clothes your people!
