Hebrew Names Version HNV
The Message Bible MSG
1 He who dwells in the secret place of Ha`Elyon Will rest in the shadow of Shaddai.
1
You who sit down in the High God's presence, spend the night in Shaddai's shadow,
2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in whom I trust."
2
Say this: "God, you're my refuge. I trust in you and I'm safe!"
3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, From the deadly pestilence.
3
That's right - he rescues you from hidden traps, shields you from deadly hazards.
4 He will cover you with his pinions. Under his wings you will take refuge. His truth is a shield and a buckler.
4
His huge outstretched arms protect you - under them you're perfectly safe; his arms fend off all harm.
5 You will not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day;
5
Fear nothing - not wild wolves in the night, not flying arrows in the day,
6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that wastes at noonday.
6
Not disease that prowls through the darkness, not disaster that erupts at high noon.
7 A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it will not come near you.
7
Even though others succumb all around, drop like flies right and left, no harm will even graze you.
8 You will only look with your eyes, And see the reward of the wicked.
8
You'll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance, watch the wicked turn into corpses.
9 For you, LORD, are my refuge! You have made Ha`Elyon your habitation.
9
Yes, because God's your refuge, the High God your very own home,
10 No evil shall happen to you, Neither shall any plague come near your dwelling.
10
Evil can't get close to you, harm can't get through the door.
11 For he will give his angels charge over you, To guard you in all your ways.
11
He ordered his angels to guard you wherever you go.
12 They will bear you up in their hands, So that you won't dash your foot against a stone.
12
If you stumble, they'll catch you; their job is to keep you from falling.
13 You will tread on the lion and cobra. You will trample the young lion and the serpent underfoot.
13
You'll walk unharmed among lions and snakes, and kick young lions and serpents from the path.
14 "Because he has set his love on me, therefore I will deliver him. I will set him on high, because he has known my name.
14
"If you'll hold on to me for dear life," says God, "I'll get you out of any trouble. I'll give you the best of care if you'll only get to know and trust me.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him, and honor him.
15
Call me and I'll answer, be at your side in bad times; I'll rescue you, then throw you a party.
16 I will satisfy him with long life, And show him my yeshu`ah."
16
I'll give you a long life, give you a long drink of salvation!"
