Daniele 12:2-12

2 E la moltitudine di quelli che dormono nella polvere della terra si risveglierà; gli uni a vita eterna, e gli altri a vituperii, e ad infamia eterna.

3 E gl’intendenti risplenderanno come lo splendor della distesa; e quelli che avranno giustificati molti, risplenderanno come le stelle in sempiterno.

4 Or tu, Daniele, serra queste parole, e suggella questo libro, infino al tempo della fine; allora molti andranno attorno, e la conoscenza sarà accresciuta.

5 Poi io Daniele riguardai, ed ecco, altri due, che stavano ritti in piè; l’uno di qua sopra l’una delle ripe del fiume; l’altro di là, sopra l’altra.

6 E l’uno d’essi disse all’uomo vestito di panni lini, il quale era sopra le acque del fiume: Quando sarà infine il compimento di queste maraviglie?

7 Ed io udii l’uomo vestito di panni lini, ch’era sopra le acque del fiume, il quale, levata la man destra, e la sinistra, al cielo, giurò per Colui che vive in eterno, che tutte queste cose sarebbero compiute, infra un tempo, de’ tempi, e la metà di un tempo; ed allora che colui avrebbe finito di dissipar le forze del popolo santo.

8 Ed io udii ben ciò, ma non l’intesi. E dissi: Signor mio, qual sarà la fine di queste cose?

9 Ed egli mi disse: Va’, Daniele; perciocchè queste parole son nascoste, e suggellate, infino al tempo della fine.

10 Molti saranno purificati, e imbiancati, e posti al cimento; ma gli empi opereranno empiamente; e niuno degli empi intenderà queste cose: ma gli intendenti le intenderanno.

11 Ora, del tempo che sarà stato tolto il sacrificio continuo, e sarà stata posta l’abbominazione desertante, vi saranno mille dugennovanta giorni.

12 Beato chi aspetterà pazientemente, e giungerà a mille trecentrentacinque giorni!

INTRODUCTION TO DANIEL 12

This chapter begins with an account of a time of exceeding great trouble to the people of God, who are comforted with the consideration of Michael the great Prince being on their side, and with a promise of deliverance, with the resurrection of the dead, and the glorious state of wise and good men upon that, Da 12:1-3, and Daniel is ordered to shut up and seal the book of the prophecy, until a time when it should be better understood, Da 12:4, next follows a question put by an angel to Christ, and his answer to it, with respect to the time of the fulfilment of those wonderful events, Da 12:5-7. Daniel, not understanding what he heard, asks what would be the end of those things, Da 12:8 in answer to which he is bid to be content with what he knew; no alteration would be among men; things would be neither better nor worse with them, Da 12:9,10, a time is fixed for the accomplishment of all, Da 12:11,12, and it is promised him that he should have rest after death, and rise again, and have his lot and share with the blessed, Da 12:13.
