Ezechiele 30:1-8

Listen to Ezechiele 30:1-8
1 E la parola dell’Eterno mi fu rivolta in questi termini:
2 "Figliuol d’uomo, profetizza e di’: Così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Urlate: Ahi, che giorno!
3 Poiché il giorno è vicino, è vicino il giorno dell’Eterno: Giorno di nuvole, il tempo delle nazioni.
4 La spada verrà sull’Egitto, e vi sarà terrore in Etiopia quando in Egitto cadranno i feriti a morte, quando si porteran via le sue ricchezze, e le sue fondamenta saranno rovesciate.
5 L’Etiopia, la Libia, la Lidia, Put, Lud, gli stranieri d’ogni sorta, Cub e i figli del paese dell’alleanza, cadranno con loro per la spada.
6 Così parla l’Eterno: Quelli che sostengono l’Egitto cadranno, e l’orgoglio della sua forza sarà abbattuto: da Migdol a Syene essi cadranno per la spada, dice il Signore, l’Eterno,
7 e saranno desolati in mezzo a terre desolate, e le loro cittĂ  saranno devastate in mezzo a cittĂ  devastate;
8 e conosceranno che io sono l’Eterno, quando metterò il fuoco all’Egitto, e tutti i suoi ausiliari saranno fiaccati.

INTRODUCTION TO EZEKIEL 30

This chapter is a continuation of the prophecy against Egypt, both against the country and the king of it. It is introduced with expressions of lamentation, because of the destruction coming on, Eze 30:1-3, and not only Egypt, and the cities thereof, should be destroyed, but all her friends, associates, and allies; the Ethiopians, Lydians, Lybians, and others, Eze 30:4-9. Nebuchadnezzar and his army were to be the instruments of her ruin, Eze 30:10-12, particular cities are mentioned by name, which should suffer much, and become desolate, Eze 30:13-19 and then Pharaoh king of Egypt himself is threatened with broken arms, and his people to be scattered among the nations, Eze 30:20-23, and the king of Babylon is again mentioned, whose arms should be strengthened to do all this, Eze 30:24-26.
