Ezequiel 9:1-8

1 Masacre de los idólatras
Entonces el Señor
dijo con voz de trueno: «¡Traigan a los hombres designados para castigar la ciudad! ¡Díganles que vengan con sus armas!».

2 Pronto entraron seis hombres por la puerta superior que da al norte y cada uno llevaba un arma mortal en la mano. Con ellos había un hombre vestido de lino, que llevaba un estuche de escriba en la cintura. Todos se dirigieron al atrio del templo y se pusieron de pie junto al altar de bronce.

3 Entonces la gloria del Dios de Israel se elevó de entre los querubines, donde había reposado, y se movió hacia la entrada del templo. Luego el Señor
llamó al hombre vestido de lino, que llevaba el estuche de escriba.

4 Le dijo: «Recorre las calles de Jerusalén y pon una marca en la frente de todos los que lloren y suspiren por los pecados detestables que se cometen en la ciudad».

5 Luego oí al Señor
decir a los demás hombres: «Síganlo por toda la ciudad y maten a todos los que no tengan la marca en la frente. ¡No tengan compasión! ¡No tengan lástima de nadie!

6 Mátenlos a todos: ancianos, jóvenes, muchachas, mujeres y niños. Sin embargo, no toquen a ninguno que tenga la marca. Comiencen aquí mismo, en el templo». Entonces ellos comenzaron matando a los setenta líderes.

7 «¡Contaminen el templo! —mandó el Señor
—. Llenen los atrios con cadáveres. ¡Vayan!». Entonces ellos salieron y comenzaron la masacre por toda la ciudad.

8 Mientras mataban a la gente, yo me quedé solo. Caí con el rostro en tierra y clamé:
—¡Oh Señor
Soberano! ¿Acaso tu furia contra Jerusalén destruirá a todos los que queden en Israel?

INTRODUCTION TO EZEKIEL 9

In this chapter is contained a vision, representing the destruction of the idolatrous Jews, and the preservation of the godly that were among them, in which different persons were employed; they that were concerned in the destruction of the idolaters are described by their office; they had charge over the city; by their form and appearance, men; by their number, six; by the quarter from whence they came, the way of the higher gate northward; and by the weapons they had in their hands, slaughter ones; and by their place and posture, standing beside the brasen altar, Eze 9:1,2; among these were one clothed in linen, with a writer's inkhorn by his side; to whom the glorious God of Israel, who was removed from the cherub to the threshold of the house, gave orders to go through the city of Jerusalem, and mark those that mourned over the abominations of it, Eze 9:3,4; and the rest he ordered to go through the city, and slay all of every age, and sex, and state, except those that had the mark; beginning at the sanctuary, and filling the courts with the slain; which orders were obeyed, Eze 9:5-7; upon which the prophet expostulates with the Lord, and intercedes for the people; but is not heard, because of the abounding of iniquity among them; their frequent shedding of blood; their perversion of justice; and their abominable infidelity and atheism; for which reasons he was determined to show them no mercy, Eze 9:8-10; and the chapter is closed with a report made by the man clothed with linen, that he had done as was commanded him, Eze 9:11.
