Isaías 27:1-8

1 En aquel día, el Señor
tomará su espada veloz y terrible para castigar al Leviatán:
la serpiente que se mueve con gran rapidez, la serpiente que se retuerce y se enrolla. Él matará al dragón del mar.

2 «En aquel día,
canten acerca del viñedo fértil.

3 Yo, el Señor
, lo vigilaré,
y lo regaré con cuidado.
Día y noche lo vigilaré para que nadie pueda hacerle daño.

4 Mi enojo habrá desaparecido.
Si encuentro zarzas y espinos en crecimiento,
los atacaré;
los quemaré,

5 a menos que vuelvan a mí en busca de ayuda.
Que se reconcilien conmigo;
sí, que se reconcilien conmigo».

6 Se acerca el tiempo cuando los descendientes de Jacob echarán raíces;
¡Israel brotará y florecerá,
y llenará de fruto el mundo entero!

7 ¿Ha golpeado el Señor
a Israel
como golpeaba a sus enemigos?
¿Lo ha castigado
como los castigaba a ellos?

8 No, pero desterró a Israel para que rindiera cuentas;
quedó desterrado de su tierra,
como si hubiera sido arrasado por una tormenta del oriente.

INTRODUCTION TO ISAIAH 27

This chapter refers to the same times as the two foregoing ones Isa 25:1-26:21; and is a continuation of the same song, or rather a new one on the same occasion; it is prophetical of the last times, and of what shall be done in them, as the destruction of the antichristian powers, and Satan at the head of them, Isa 27:1 the happy state of the church, and its fruitfulness under the care and protection of the Lord, and his affection for it, Isa 27:2-4 its peace, prosperity, and flourishing condition, Isa 27:5,6 the nature, use, and end of all its afflictions and chastisements, Isa 27:7-9 the ruin and destruction of the city of Rome, and its inhabitants, and of its whole jurisdiction, Isa 27:10,11 a great gathering and conversion of the Lord's people, both Jews and Gentiles, by the ministry of the Gospel, Isa 27:12,13.
