A recent History Channel mini-series has revived interest in the famous Hatfield-McCoy feud. There were a lot of details people didn't know about the famous conflict. What surprised many was how the mini-series concluded. It concluded with the baptism of the Hatfield clan leader, "Devil Anse" Hatfield. This historic feud was inflamed by issues such as Civil War loyalties, timber rights, a stolen pig and intermarriage between the clans. At the age of 71, weary from the losses in the conflict, about 15 lives lost, Hatfield decided to give his life to Jesus at a revival meeting. The family says he spent the last 10 years of his life in peace, knowing he had been forgiven and ready for eternity. That part of the story reveals that even the most hardened heart can be made new by the power of the gospel.
