Acts 17:8

And they troubled the people, and the rulers of the city,
&c.] Fearing some revolution would be made, and some new king, or rather tyrant, would start up, and usurp a power over them; or that they should come under some suspicion or charge with the Roman government, and should be called to an account, for admitting such men and tenets among them; with such fears were they possessed,

when they heard these things;
alleged against the apostle and his company.

6 Ma non avendoli trovati, trascinarono Giasone e alcuni de’ fratelli dinanzi ai magistrati della città, gridando: Costoro che hanno messo sossopra il mondo, son venuti anche qua,
7 e Giasone li ha accolti; ed essi tutti vanno contro agli statuti di Cesare, dicendo che c’è un altro re, Gesù.
8 E misero sossopra la moltitudine e i magistrati della città, che udivano queste cose.
9 E questi, dopo che ebbero ricevuta una cauzione da Giasone e dagli altri, li lasciarono andare.
10 E i fratelli, subito, di notte, fecero partire Paolo e Sila per Berea; ed essi, giuntivi, si recarono nella sinagoga de’ Giudei.
