24 Io li ho trattati secondo la loro impurità e secondo le loro trasgressioni, e ho nascosto loro la mia faccia.

Ezekiel 39:24

According to their uncleanness
Not ceremonial, but moral; they were an impure and adulterous generation, as our Lord calls them, ( Matthew 12:39 ) ( 16:4 ) : and according to their transgressions have I done unto them;
or "rebellions", as the Targum renders it; or defections, as the word ^F11 signifies; their rebellions against the King Messiah; their defections from him; their contempt of him, and rejection of his yoke, and non-submission to his ordinances; according to the desert of such crimes, the Lord dealt with them;

``took vengeance on them,''

as the Targum is; in the destruction of their nation, city, and temple: "and hid my face from them"; or caused his Shechaniah to remove from them, as the same paraphrase; (See Gill on Ezekiel 39:23).

22 E da quel giorno in poi la casa d’Israele conoscerà che io sono l’Eterno, il suo Dio;

23 e le nazioni conosceranno che la casa d’Israele è stata menata in cattività a motivo della sua iniquità, perché m’era stata infedele; ond’io ho nascosto a loro la mia faccia, e li ho dati in mano de’ loro nemici; e tutti quanti son caduti per la spada.

24 Io li ho trattati secondo la loro impurità e secondo le loro trasgressioni, e ho nascosto loro la mia faccia.

25 Perciò, così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Ora io farò tornare Giacobbe dalla cattività, e avrò pietà di tutta la casa d’Israele, e sarò geloso del mio santo nome.

26 Ed essi avran finito di portare il loro obbrobrio e la pena di tutte le infedeltà che hanno commesse contro di me, quando dimoreranno al sicuro nel loro paese, e non vi sarà più alcun che li spaventi;
