Jeremiah 45:2

Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel, unto thee, O Baruch.
] Whom he knew by name, had a great regard for, and honours with this prophecy; and, being an Israelite, both in a literal and spiritual sense, he addresses him as the God of Israel, and as being his covenant God; in whom he should put his trust, and from whom he might expect safety and protection in the worst of times; and to whose sovereign will, in all the dispensations of his providence, he ought to have humbly and patiently submitted.

1 La parola che il profeta Geremia rivolse a Baruc, figliuolo di Neria, quando questi scrisse queste parole in un libro, a dettatura di Geremia, l’anno quarto di Joiakim, figliuolo di Giosia, re di Giuda. Egli disse:
2 "Così parla l’Eterno, l’Iddio d’Israele, riguardo a te, Baruc:
3 Tu dici: Guai a me! poiché l’Eterno aggiunge tristezza al mio dolore; io m’affanno a gemere, e non trovo requie.
4 Digli così: Così parla l’Eterno: Ecco, ciò che ho edificato, io lo distruggerò; ciò che ho piantato, io lo sradicherò; e questo farò in tutto il paese.
5 E tu cercheresti grandi cose per te? Non le cercare! poiché, ecco, io farò venir del male sopra ogni carne, dice l’Eterno, ma a te darò la vita come bottino, in tutti i luoghi dove tu andrai".
