7 I Leviti non debbono aver parte di sorta in mezzo a voi, giacché il sacerdozio dell’Eterno è la parte loro; e Gad, Ruben e la mezza tribù di Manasse hanno già ricevuto, al di là del Giordano, a oriente, l’eredità che Mosè, servo dell’Eterno, ha data loro".

Joshua 18:7

But the Levites have no part among you
And so needed not to send any men out of their tribe to measure the land on their account, and is a reason why the remaining part of the land was to be divided into seven parts only:

for the priesthood of the Lord [is] his inheritance;
not only the office, but what appertained to it, all the perquisites of it, the tithes, firstfruits, parts of the sacrifices see ( Joshua 13:14 ) ;

and Gad, and Reuben, and half the tribe of Manasseh, have received
their inheritance beyond Jordan on the east, which Moses the servant of
the Lord gave them;
and so had no share in the division of the land of Canaan, being sufficiently provided for.

5 Essi lo divideranno in sette parti: Giuda rimarrà nei suoi confini a mezzogiorno, e la casa di Giuseppe rimarrà nei suoi confini a settentrione.

6 Voi farete dunque la descrizione del paese, dividendolo in sette parti; me la porterete qui, e io ve le tirerò a sorte qui, davanti all’Eterno, al nostro Dio.

8 Quegli uomini dunque si levarono e partirono; e a loro, che andavano a fare la descrizione del paese, Giosuè diede quest’ordine: "Andate, percorrete il paese, e fatene la descrizione; poi tornate da me, e io vi tirerò a sorte le parti qui, davanti all’Eterno, a Sciloh".

9 E quegli uomini andarono, percorsero il paese, ne fecero in un libro la descrizione per città, dividendolo in sette parti; poi tornarono da Giosuè, al campo di Sciloh.
