Neemia 4:14

14 E, dopo aver tutto ben esaminato, mi levai, e dissi ai notabili, ai magistrati e al resto del popolo: "Non li temete! Ricordatevi del Signore, grande e tremendo; e combattete per i vostri fratelli, per i vostri figliuoli e figliuole, per le vostre mogli e per le vostre case!"

Nehemiah 4:14

And I looked
Took a view of the people, and observed that they were in their proper place, and sufficiently armed, and also whether the enemy was coming:

and rose up and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the
rest of the people;
who were under their nobles and rulers, as their captains and commanders:

be not ye afraid of them;
of their enemies, their numbers, and their threats:

remember the Lord, which is great and terrible;
who is greater than they, and is to be feared and trusted in by his people, and is terrible even to the kings of the earth:

and fight for your brethren, your sons and your daughters, your wives
and your houses;
intimating, that they were in danger of losing all that was near and dear, valuable and precious to them, if they did not fight for them; and therefore it became them to quit themselves like men, and be strong.

12 E siccome i Giudei che dimoravano vicino a loro vennero dieci volte a riferirci la cosa da tutti i luoghi di loro provenienza,

13 io, nelle parti più basse del posto, dietro le mura, in luoghi aperti, disposi il popolo per famiglie, con le loro spade le loro lance, i loro archi.

14 E, dopo aver tutto ben esaminato, mi levai, e dissi ai notabili, ai magistrati e al resto del popolo: "Non li temete! Ricordatevi del Signore, grande e tremendo; e combattete per i vostri fratelli, per i vostri figliuoli e figliuole, per le vostre mogli e per le vostre case!"

15 Quando i nostri nemici udirono ch’eravamo informati della cosa, Iddio frustrò il loro disegno, e noi tutti tornammo alle mura, ognuno al suo lavoro.

16 Da quel giorno, la metà de’ miei servi lavorava, e l’altra metà stava armata di lance, di scudi, d’archi, di corazze; e i capi eran dietro a tutta la casa di Giuda.
