Psalm 14:1-3

1 To the choirmaster. Of David. The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds, there is none that does good.

2 The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any that act wisely, that seek after God.

3 They have all gone astray, they are all alike corrupt; there is none that does good, no, not one.

Psalm 14:1-3 Meaning and Commentary

To the chief Musician, [a Psalm] of David. The argument of this psalm, according to Theodoret, is Sennacherib's invasion of Judea, when he sent Rabshakeh to Hezekiah, with menaces and curses; upon which Hezekiah implored divine help, and obtained it, and the Assyrian army was destroyed by an angel; of all which he thinks this psalm was prophetic.
