1 Samuel 25:24-34

24 y se echó a sus pies, y dijo: Señor mío, sobre mí sea el pecado; mas te ruego que permitas a tu sierva que hable en tus oídos, y oye las palabras de tu sierva.

25 No ponga ahora mi señor su corazón a aquel hijo de Belial, a Nabal; porque conforme a su nombre, así es. El se llama Nabal (loco ), y la locura está con él; mas yo tu sierva no vi los criados de mi señor, los cuales tú enviaste.

26 Ahora pues, señor mío, vive el SEÑOR y vive tu alma, que el SEÑOR te ha vedado que vinieses a derramar sangre, y vengarte por tu propia mano. Sean, pues, como Nabal tus enemigos, y todos los que procuran mal contra mi señor.

27 Y ahora esta bendición que tu sierva ha traído a mi señor, dése a los criados que siguen a mi señor.

28 Y yo te ruego que perdones a tu sierva esta maldad; porque el SEÑOR de cierto hará casa firme a mi señor, por cuanto mi señor hace las guerras del SEÑOR, y mal no se ha hallado en ti en tus días.

29 Bien que alguien se haya levantado a perseguirte y a buscar tu alma, con todo, el alma de mi señor será ligada en el haz de los que viven con el SEÑOR Dios tuyo, y él arrojará el alma de tus enemigos como de en medio de la palma de una honda.

30 Y acontecerá que cuando el SEÑOR hiciere con mi señor conforme a todo el bien que ha hablado de ti, y te mandare que seas capitán sobre Israel,

31 entonces, señor mío, no te será esto en tropiezo y turbación de corazón, el que hayas derramado sangre sin causa, y que mi señor se haya vengado por sí mismo. Guárdese pues mi señor, y cuando el SEÑOR hiciere bien a mi señor, acuérdate de tu sierva.

32 Entonces dijo David a Abigail: Bendito sea el SEÑOR Dios de Israel, que te envió para que hoy me encontrases;

33 y bendito sea tu razonamiento, y bendita seas tú, que me has estorbado hoy el ir a derramar sangre, y a vengarme por mi propia mano;

34 porque, vive el SEÑOR Dios de Israel que me ha defendido de hacerte mal, que si no te hubieras dado prisa en venirme al encuentro, de aquí a mañana no le quedara a Nabal meante a la pared.

INTRODUCTION TO FIRST SAMUEL 25

This chapter gives an account of the death of Samuel, and of the ill treatment David met with from Nabal; it begins with the death of Samuel, which was greatly lamented in Israel, 1Sa 25:1; it draws the character of Nabal, and his wife, 1Sa 25:2,3; records a message of David to him, by his young men, desiring he would send him some of his provisions made for his sheep shearers, 1Sa 25:4-9; and Nabal's ill-natured answer to him reported by the young men, which provoked David to arm against him, 1Sa 25:10-13,21,22; and this being told Abigail, the wife of Nabal, and a good character given of David and his men, and of the advantage Nabal's shepherds had received from them, and the danger his family was in through his ingratitude, 1Sa 25:14-17; she prepared a present to pacify David, went with it herself, and addressed him in a very handsome, affectionate, and prudent manner, 1Sa 25:18-31; and met with a kind reception, 1Sa 25:32-35; and the chapter is closed with an account of the death of Nabal, and of the marriage of Abigail to David, 1Sa 25:32-44.
