Zacarías 2:5-13

5 Yo seré para ella, dice el SEÑOR, muro de fuego en derredor, y seré por gloria en medio de ella.

6 Eh, eh, huid de la tierra del aquilón, dice el SEÑOR, porque por los cuatro vientos de los cielos os esparcí, dice el SEÑOR.

7 Oh Sion, la que moras con la hija de Babilonia, escápate.

8 Porque así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos: Después de la gloria me enviará él a los gentiles que os despojaron; porque el que os toca, toca a la niña de su ojo.

9 Porque he aquí yo alzo mi mano sobre ellos, y serán despojo a sus siervos, y sabréis que el SEÑOR de los ejércitos me envió.

10 Canta y alégrate, hija de Sion; porque he aquí vengo, y moraré en medio de ti, dijo el SEÑOR.

11 Y se unirán muchos gentiles al SEÑOR en aquel día, y me serán por pueblo, y moraré en medio de ti; y entonces conocerás que el SEÑOR de los ejércitos me ha enviado a ti.

12 Y el SEÑOR poseerá a Judá su heredad en la Tierra santa, y escogerá aún a Jerusalén.

13 Calle toda carne delante del SEÑOR, porque él se ha despertado de su santa morada.

Zacarías 2:5-13 Meaning and Commentary

INTRODUCTION TO ZECHARIAH 2

This chapter contains a prophecy of the church under the Gospel dispensation; of the largeness and numbers of it; and of its protection and glory, through the presence of God in it. In this vision a man is seen with a measuring line in his hand, to measure Jerusalem with, Zec 2:1,2 upon which an angel bids the angel that talked with the prophet to declare to him the largeness, populousness, and safety of Jerusalem, Zec 2:3-5 then follows an exhortation to the people of God to come out of Babylon, Zec 2:6,7 and then a promise of the calling of the Gentiles, and of God's gracious inhabitation in his church, which would be matter of joy to Zion; and of his inheriting Judah, and choosing Jerusalem Zec 2:8-12 and the chapter is concluded with an address to all mankind, to be silent before the Lord, since he was raised up out of his habitation, Zec 2:13.
