Deuteronomy 29:7 Meaning and Commentary

Deuteronomy 29:7

And when ye came unto this place
The borders of Moab, the wilderness before it, to which joined the plains they were now in; see ( Numbers 21:13 Numbers 21:20 ) ( Deuteronomy 2:26 ) ;

Sihon king of Heshbon, and Og king of Bashan, came out against us unto
battle;
not together, but one after the other, and that very quickly; as soon almost as they had fought with the one, and conquered him, the other came out against them:

and we smote them;
killed them and their armies, and the inhabitants of their countries; the history of which see in ( Numbers 21:23-35 ) .

Deuteronomy 29:7 In-Context

5 And I have led you forty years in the wilderness. Your clothes have not waxed old upon you, and thy shoe has not waxed old upon thy foot.
6 Ye have not eaten bread, neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink, that ye might know that I am the LORD your God.
7 And when ye came unto this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon and Og the king of Bashan came out against us unto battle, and we smote them.
8 And we took their land and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites and to the Gadites and to the halftribe of Manasseh.
9 Keep therefore the words of this covenant and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.
