31 Und Josaphat regierte über Juda und war fünfunddreißig Jahre alt, da er König ward, und regierte fünfundzwanzig Jahre zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Asuba, eine Tochter Silhis.
32 Und er wandelte in dem Wege seines Vaters Asa und ließ nicht davon, daß er tat, was dem HERRN wohl gefiel.
33 Nur die Höhen wurden nicht abgetan; denn das Volk hatte sein Herz noch nicht geschickt zu dem Gott ihrer Väter.
34 Was aber mehr von Josaphat zu sagen ist, beides, das erste und das letzte, siehe, das ist geschrieben in den Geschichten Jehus, des Sohnes Hananis, die aufgenommen sind ins Buch der Könige Israels.
35 Darnach vereinigte sich Josaphat, der König Juda's, mit Ahasja, dem König Israels, welcher war gottlos in seinem Tun. {~}
36 Und er vereinigte sich mit ihm, Schiffe zu machen, daß sie aufs Meer führen; und sie machten Schiffe zu Ezeon-Geber.
37 Aber Elieser, der Sohn Dodavas von Maresa, weissagte wider Josaphat und sprach: Darum daß du dich mit Ahasja vereinigt hast, hat der HERR deine Werke zerrissen. Und die Schiffe wurden zerbrochen und konnten nicht aufs Meer fahren.

INTRODUCTION TO 2 CHRONICLES 20

Jehoshaphat having notice of a numerous army coming against him, 2Ch 20:1,2, betakes himself to fasting and prayer with his people, 2Ch 20:3-13, when they were immediately assured of victory by a prophet, which filled them with joy and thankfulness, 2Ch 20:14-21, and accordingly their enemies destroyed one another, and Jehoshaphat and his people returned to Jerusalem rejoicing and praising God, 2Ch 20:22-30, and the chapter is closed with an account of the latter part of Jehoshaphat's reign, 2Ch 20:31-37.
