Matthew 6:19-24

We’ll be joined by pastor Jeff Johnson in a moment, who today opens the gospel of Matthew chapter six.  Where’s your treasure these days?  That’s the question before us, and we’ll learn in a moment that where our treasure is, there will be our heart also!  Pastor Jeff says put your treasure in heaven, and look forward to eternal dividends.  

How’s your investment portfolio looking these days?  It can rise and fall in an instant, as we’ve seen over the years.  But there’s one investment that pays eternal dividends and you can count on it being there when you enter into heaven.  Today on Sound Doctrine we’ll turn to Matthew chapter six and see who we’re to serve and where to invest.  Jesus tells us don’t layup treasures on earth, but rather in heaven!

We as a people are consumed with what we don’t have. Whether it is a good car, the latest computer or cell phone, the newest Ipod or something more real - like security. In this passage it is not saying we have to give all our (Gods) money away, that we cannot save, have a retirement account or own nice things. God is after an issue of the heart. He wants the first fruits of our hearts.
