Gedenke dessen, Jakob und Israel! Denn du bist mein Knecht. Ich habe dich gebildet, du bist mein Knecht; Israel, du wirst nicht von mir vergessen werden.

Ich habe deine Übertretungen getilgt wie einen Nebel, und wie eine Wolke deine Sünden. Kehre um zu mir, denn ich habe dich erlöst!

Jubelt, ihr Himmel! Denn Jehova hat es vollführt; jauchzet, ihr Tiefen der Erde! Brechet in Jubel aus, ihr Berge, du Wald und jeder Baum darin! Denn Jehova hat Jakob erlöst, und an Israel verherrlicht er sich.

So spricht Jehova, dein Erlöser und der von Mutterleibe an dich gebildet hat: Ich, Jehova, bin es, der alles wirkt, der die Himmel ausspannte, ich allein, die Erde ausbreitete durch mich selbst;
25
der die Wunderzeichen der Lügner vereitelt und die Wahrsager zu Narren macht; der die Weisen zurückdrängt und ihr Wissen zur Torheit macht;

der das Wort seines Knechtes bestätigt und den Bescheid seiner Boten vollführt; der von Jerusalem spricht: Es soll bewohnt werden! Und von den Städten Judas: Sie sollen aufgebaut werden, und ich will seine Trümmer wieder aufrichten!

Der zu der Flut spricht: Versiege, und ich will deine Ströme austrocknen!
28
Der von Kores spricht: Mein Hirt, und der all mein Wohlgefallen vollführt, indem er von Jerusalem sprechen wird: Es werde aufgebaut! Und vom Tempel: Er werde gegründet!

INTRODUCTION TO ISAIAH 44
In this chapter the Lord comforts his people with the promise of the effusion of his Spirit, and the blessings of his grace upon them; the consequence of which would be fruitfulness in them, and the conversion of others, who should profess themselves the Lord's people, Isa 44:1-5, he proves his deity in opposition to all false gods from his eternity, omniscience, and foretelling future events, Isa 44:6-8, exposes the stupidity of idol makers and the worshippers of them, Isa 44:9-20, makes gracious promises of the remembrance of his people, the remission of their sins, and their redemption by Christ, Isa 44:21-23, of which redemption from Babylon was a type; and of that assurance is given, from the Lord's creating all things by his power; from his frustrating and infatuating diviners and wise men; from his fulfilling his predictions delivered by his prophets; and from his mentioning by name the instrument of their redemption, Cyrus, Isa 44:24-28, which makes way for a particular prophecy concerning him in the next chapter.
