Acts 2:31-41

31 he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that ¹he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption.

32 This Jesus ²God raised up, ³and of that we all are witnesses.

33 ⁴Being therefore ⁵exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from ⁶the Father ⁷the promise of the Holy Spirit, ⁸he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing.

34 For ⁹David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says, ¹⁰“‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand,

35 until I make your enemies your footstool. ”’

36 Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that ¹¹God has made him ¹²both Lord and Christ, this Jesus ¹³whom you crucified. ”

37 Now when ¹⁴they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, ¹⁵what shall we do? ”

38 And Peter said to them, ¹⁶“Repent and ¹⁷be baptized every one of you ¹⁸in the name of Jesus Christ ¹⁹for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive ²⁰the gift of the Holy Spirit.

39 For ²¹the promise is for you and ²²for your children and for all ²³who are far off, everyone ²⁴whom the Lord our God calls to himself. ”

40 And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, ²⁵“Save yourselves from this ²⁶crooked generation. ”

41 So those who received his word were baptized, and ²⁷there were added that day about three thousand souls.
