31
he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that
1he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption.
32
This Jesus
2God raised up,
3and of that we all are witnesses.
33
4Being therefore
5exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from
6the Father
7the promise of the Holy Spirit,
8he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing.
34
For
9David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says,
10“‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand,
35
until I make your enemies your footstool. ”’
36
Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that
11God has made him
12both Lord and Christ, this Jesus
13whom you crucified. ”
37
Now when
14they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers,
15what shall we do? ”
38
And Peter said to them,
16“Repent and
17be baptized every one of you
18in the name of Jesus Christ
19for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive
20the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39
For
21the promise is for you and
22for your children and for all
23who are far off, everyone
24whom the Lord our God calls to himself. ”
40
And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying,
25“Save yourselves from this
26crooked generation. ”
41
So those who received his word were baptized, and
27there were added that day about three thousand souls.
