Abimelech sent for Isaac and said, "So she is really your wife! How could you say, 'She's my sister'?" Isaac answered him, "Because I thought I might die on account of her."

So Abimelech called Isaac and said, "Behold, she is your wife. How then could you say, 'She is my sister'?" Isaac said to him, "Because I thought, 'Lest I die because of her.'"

And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety she is thy wife: and how saidst thou, She is my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for her.

Abimelech sent for Isaac and said, "So, she's your wife. Why did you tell us 'She's my sister'?" Isaac said, "Because I thought I might get killed by someone who wanted her."

Then Abimelech called Isaac and said, "Behold, certainly she is your wife! How then did you say, 'She is my sister '?" And Isaac said to him, "Because I said, 'I might die on account of her.' "

So Abimelek summoned Isaac and said, “She is really your wife! Why did you say, ‘She is my sister’?” Isaac answered him, “Because I thought I might lose my life on account of her.”

Then Abimelech called Isaac and said, "Quite obviously she is your wife; so how could you say, 'She is my sister'?" And Isaac said to him, "Because I said, 'Lest I die on account of her.' "

Immediately, Abimelech called for Isaac and exclaimed, “She is obviously your wife! Why did you say, ‘She is my sister’?” “Because I was afraid someone would kill me to get her from me,” Isaac replied.

So Abimelech called for Isaac, and said, "So she is your wife! Why then did you say, "She is my sister'?" Isaac said to him, "Because I thought I might die because of her."

Então chamou Abimeleque a Isaque, e disse: Eis que na verdade é tua mulher; como pois disseste: E minha irmã? Respondeu-lhe Isaque: Porque eu dizia: Para que eu porventura não morra por sua causa.

Then Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, she is certainly thy wife; and how saidst thou, She is my sister? and Isaac said to him, Because I said, Lest I die on account of her.

Da rief Abimelech den Isaak und sprach: Siehe, fürwahr, sie ist dein Weib; und wie hast du gesagt: Sie ist meine Schwester? Und Isaak sprach zu ihm: Weil ich mir sagte: Daß ich nicht sterbe ihretwegen.

Al instante, Abimelec mandó llamar a Isaac y exclamó: —¡Es evidente que ella es tu esposa! ¿Por qué dijiste: “Es mi hermana”? —Porque tuve temor de que alguien me matara para quitármela —contestó Isaac.

Entonces mandó llamar a Isaac y le dijo:—¡Conque ella es tu esposa! ¿Por qué dijiste que era tu hermana?—Yo pensé que por causa de ella podrían matarme —contestó Isaac.

Então Abimeleque chamou Isaque e lhe disse: “Na verdade ela é tua mulher! Por que me disseste que ela era tua irmã?”Isaque respondeu: “Porque pensei que eu poderia ser morto por causa dela”.

And calling for him, he said: It is evident she is thy wife: why didst thou feign her to be thy sister? He answered: I feared lest I should die for her sake.

And when Isaac was called (to him), the king said, It is open, that she is thy wife; why saidest thou, that she was thy sister? Isaac answered, For I dreaded (For I was afraid), lest I should die for her.
