1
What shall we saythen? Shall we continue in sin, thatgrace may abound?
2
God forbid*. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longertherein*?
3
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptizedintoJesusChrist were baptizedintohisdeath?
4
Therefore we are buried withhimbybaptismintodeath:that like asChrist was raised upfrom the deadby the glory of the Father, even sowealso should walkinnewness of life.
5
Forif we have been planted together in the likeness of hisdeath, we shall bealsoin the likeness of his resurrection:
6
Knowingthis, thatouroldman is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforthweshouldnotservesin.
8
Nowif we be deadwithChrist, we believethat we shallalsolive with him:
9
KnowingthatChrist being raisedfrom the deaddieth no more;deathhath no more dominion overhim.
10
Forin that he died, he died unto sinonce:but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
11
Likewisereckonyealsoyourselves to bedeadindeed unto sin, butalive unto GodthroughJesusChristourLord.
12
Letnotsinthereforereigninyourmortalbody, that ye should obeyitin the luststhereof.
13
Neither yield yeyourmembers as instruments[b] of unrighteousness unto sin:butyieldyourselves unto God,as those that are alivefrom the dead, andyourmembers as instruments of righteousness unto God.
14
Forsinshallnot have dominion overyou:for ye arenotunder the law, butundergrace.
15
Whatthen? shall we sin, because we arenotunder the law, butundergrace? God forbid*.
16
Know yenot, that to whom ye yieldyourselvesservantstoobey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin untodeath,or of obedience untorighteousness?
17
ButGod be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin,but ye have obeyedfrom the heart that form of doctrinewhich[c]was delivered you.
18
Beingthen made freefromsin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
19
I speak after the manner of menbecause of the infirmity of yourflesh:foras ye have yieldedyourmembersservants to uncleannessand to iniquityuntoiniquity; even sonowyieldyourmembersservants to righteousnessuntoholiness.
20
Forwhen ye were the servants of sin, ye werefree from righteousness.
21
What*fruit had yethenin those things whereof ye arenowashamed? for the end of those things is death.
22
Butnow being made freefromsin, and become servants to God, ye haveyourfruituntoholiness, and the endeverlastinglife.
23
For the wages of sin is death;but the gift of God is eternallifethroughJesusChristourLord.
