11Now on the first day of the week2MaryMagdalenecameearly to the tomb, while it was stilldark, and saw3the stone already takenaway from the tomb.
2So she ran and came to SimonPeter and to the other4disciplewhomJesusloved, and said to them, "5They have takenaway the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not knowwhere they have laid Him."
36SoPeter and the otherdisciplewentforth, and they were going to the tomb.
The two were runningtogether; and the otherdiscipleranaheadfaster than Peter and came to the tombfirst;
and 7stooping and looking in, he saw the 8linenwrappingslying there; but he did not go in.
And soSimonPeteralsocame, following him, and entered the tomb; and he saw the linenwrappingslying there,
and 9the face-clothwhich had been on His head, not lying with the 10linenwrappings, but rolled up in a place by itself.
8So the otherdisciple who 11had firstcome to the tombthenalsoentered, and he saw and believed.
For as yet12they did not understand the Scripture, 13that He mustriseagain from the dead.
10So the discipleswentawayagain14to their ownhomes.
1115But Mary was standingoutside the tombweeping; and so, as she wept, she 16stooped and looked into the tomb;
and she saw17twoangels in whitesitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been lying.
And they said to her, "18Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "Because19they have takenaway my Lord, and I do not knowwhere they have laid Him."
When she had saidthis, she turnedaround and 20sawJesusstanding there, and 21did not know that it was Jesus.
15Jesussaid to her, "22Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?"Supposing Him to be the gardener, she said to Him, "Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you have laid Him, and I will take Him away."
16Jesussaid to her, "Mary!" She turned and said to Him 23in aHebrew, "24Rabboni!" (whichmeans, Teacher ).
17Jesussaid to her, "Stopclinging to Me, for I have not yetascended to the Father; but go to 25My brethren and say to them, 'I 26ascend to My Father and your Father, and My God and your God.' "1827MaryMagdalenecame, 28announcing to the disciples, "I have seen the Lord," and that He had saidthesethings to her.
19So when it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shutwhere the disciples were, for 29fear of the Jews, Jesuscame and stood in their midst and said to them, "b30Peace be with you."20
And when He had saidthis, 31He showed them both His hands and His side. The disciplesthen32rejoiced when they saw the Lord.
21SoJesussaid to them again, "33Peace be with you; 34as the Father has sent Me, I alsosend you."22
And when He had saidthis, He breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the HolySpirit.23"35If you forgive the sins of any, their sins chave been forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they have been retained."24
But 36Thomas, one of 37the twelve, calledd38Didymus, was not with them whenJesuscame.
25So the otherdisciples were saying to him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he said to them, "Unless I see in 39His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, 40I will not believe."
26eAftereightdays His disciples were againinside, and Thomas with them. Jesuscame, the doors having been fshut, and stood in their midst and said, "41Peace be with you."27Then He said to Thomas, "42Reachhere with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing."28Thomasanswered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!"
29Jesussaid to him, "Because you have seen Me, have you believed? 43Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed."
