9 Jesus said to him, "Have I been so long * with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? 1He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, 'Show us the Father '?
10 "Do you not believe that 2I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? 3The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works.
11 "Believe Me that 4I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise 5believe because of the works themselves.
12 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and 6greater works than these he will do; because 7I go to the Father.
13 "8Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that 9the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 "If you ask Me anything 10in My name, I will do it.
15 "11If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

Role of the Spirit

16 "I will ask the Father, and He will give you another 12Helper, that He may be with you forever;
17 that is 13the Spirit of truth, 14whom the world cannot * receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.
18 "I will not leave you as orphans; 15I will come to you.
19 "16After a little while 17the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; 18because I live, you will live also.
