New Living Translation (NLT) New International Version (NIV)
Then Moses went to Mount Nebo from the plains of Moab and climbed Pisgah Peak, which is across from Jericho. And the LORD showed him the whole land, from Gilead as far as Dan; 1 Then Moses climbed Mount Nebo from the plains of Moab to the top of Pisgah, across from Jericho. There the LORD showed him the whole land--from Gilead to Dan,
all the land of Naphtali; the land of Ephraim and Manasseh; all the land of Judah, extending to the Mediterranean Sea ; 2 all of Naphtali, the territory of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the western sea,
the Negev; the Jordan Valley with Jericho -- the city of palms -- as far as Zoar. 3 the Negev and the whole region from the Valley of Jericho, the City of Palms, as far as Zoar.
Then the LORD said to Moses, "This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I told them I would give it to their descendants. I have now allowed you to see it, but you will not enter the land." 4 Then the LORD said to him, "This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob when I said, 'I will give it to your descendants.' I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not cross over into it."
So Moses, the servant of the LORD, died there in the land of Moab, just as the LORD had said. 5 And Moses the servant of the LORD died there in Moab, as the LORD had said.
He was buried in a valley near Beth-peor in Moab, but to this day no one knows the exact place. 6 He buried him in Moab, in the valley opposite Beth Peor, but to this day no one knows where his grave is.
Moses was 120 years old when he died, yet his eyesight was clear, and he was as strong as ever. 7 Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone.
The people of Israel mourned thirty days for Moses on the plains of Moab, until the customary period of mourning was over. 8 The Israelites grieved for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days, until the time of weeping and mourning was over.
Now Joshua son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him. So the people of Israel obeyed him and did everything just as the LORD had commanded Moses. 9 Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites listened to him and did what the LORD had commanded Moses.
There has never been another prophet like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face. 10 Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,
The LORD sent Moses to perform all the miraculous signs and wonders in the land of Egypt against Pharaoh, all his servants, and his entire land. 11 who did all those miraculous signs and wonders the LORD sent him to do in Egypt--to Pharaoh and to all his officials and to his whole land.
And it was through Moses that the LORD demonstrated his mighty power and terrifying acts in the sight of all Israel. 12 For no one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.
