| King James Version (KJV) | New International Version (NIV) |
| 1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted . | 1 Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. |
| 2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. | 2 Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. |
| 3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. | 3 If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. |
| 4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. | 4 Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, |
| 5 For every man shall bear his own burden. | 5 for each one should carry his own load. |
| 6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. | 6 Anyone who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with his instructor. |
| 7 Be not deceived ; God is not mocked : for whatsoever a man soweth , that shall he also reap . | 7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. |
| 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. | 8 The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. |
| 9 And let us not be weary in well doing : for in due season we shall reap , if we faint not. | 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. |
| 10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. | 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. |
| 11 Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand. | 11 See what large letters I use as I write to you with my own hand! |
| 12 As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised ; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. | 12 Those who want to make a good impression outwardly are trying to compel you to be circumcised. The only reason they do this is to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. |
| 13 For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised , that they may glory in your flesh. | 13 Not even those who are circumcised obey the law, yet they want you to be circumcised that they may boast about your flesh. |
| 14 But God forbid that I should glory , save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. | 14 May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. |
| 15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. | 15 Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is a new creation. |
| 16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God. | 16 Peace and mercy to all who follow this rule, even to the Israel of God. |
| 17 From henceforth let no man trouble me : for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus. | 17 Finally, let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. |
| 18 Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen . [To the Galatians written from Rome.] | 18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen. |
