The Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 1 The LORD said to Moses,
Direct Aaron and his sons to deal carefully with the sacred donations of the people of Israel, which they dedicate to me, so that they may not profane my holy name; I am the Lord. 2 "Tell Aaron and his sons to treat with respect the sacred offerings the Israelites consecrate to me, so they will not profane my holy name. I am the LORD.
Say to them: If anyone among all your offspring throughout your generations comes near the sacred donations, which the people of Israel dedicate to the Lord, while he is in a state of uncleanness, that person shall be cut off from my presence: I am the Lord. 3 "Say to them: 'For the generations to come, if any of your descendants is ceremonially unclean and yet comes near the sacred offerings that the Israelites consecrate to the LORD, that person must be cut off from my presence. I am the LORD.
No one of Aaron's offspring who has a leprous disease or suffers a discharge may eat of the sacred donations until he is clean. Whoever touches anything made unclean by a corpse or a man who has had an emission of semen, 4 " 'If a descendant of Aaron has an infectious skin disease or a bodily discharge, he may not eat the sacred offerings until he is cleansed. He will also be unclean if he touches something defiled by a corpse or by anyone who has an emission of semen,
and whoever touches any swarming thing by which he may be made unclean or any human being by whom he may be made unclean—whatever his uncleanness may be— 5 or if he touches any crawling thing that makes him unclean, or any person who makes him unclean, whatever the uncleanness may be.
the person who touches any such shall be unclean until evening and shall not eat of the sacred donations unless he has washed his body in water. 6 The one who touches any such thing will be unclean till evening. He must not eat any of the sacred offerings unless he has bathed himself with water.
When the sun sets he shall be clean; and afterward he may eat of the sacred donations, for they are his food. 7 When the sun goes down, he will be clean, and after that he may eat the sacred offerings, for they are his food.
That which died or was torn by wild animals he shall not eat, becoming unclean by it: I am the Lord. 8 He must not eat anything found dead or torn by wild animals, and so become unclean through it. I am the LORD.
They shall keep my charge, so that they may not incur guilt and die in the sanctuary for having profaned it: I am the Lord; I sanctify them. 9 " 'The priests are to keep my requirements so that they do not become guilty and die for treating them with contempt. I am the LORD, who makes them holy.
No lay person shall eat of the sacred donations. No bound or hired servant of the priest shall eat of the sacred donations; 10 " 'No one outside a priest's family may eat the sacred offering, nor may the guest of a priest or his hired worker eat it.
but if a priest acquires anyone by purchase, the person may eat of them; and those that are born in his house may eat of his food. 11 But if a priest buys a slave with money, or if a slave is born in his household, that slave may eat his food.
If a priest's daughter marries a layman, she shall not eat of the offering of the sacred donations; 12 If a priest's daughter marries anyone other than a priest, she may not eat any of the sacred contributions.
but if a priest's daughter is widowed or divorced, without offspring, and returns to her father's house, as in her youth, she may eat of her father's food. No lay person shall eat of it. 13 But if a priest's daughter becomes a widow or is divorced, yet has no children, and she returns to live in her father's house as in her youth, she may eat of her father's food. No unauthorized person, however, may eat any of it.
If a man eats of the sacred donation unintentionally, he shall add one-fifth of its value to it, and give the sacred donation to the priest. 14 " 'If anyone eats a sacred offering by mistake, he must make restitution to the priest for the offering and add a fifth of the value to it.
No one shall profane the sacred donations of the people of Israel, which they offer to the Lord, 15 The priests must not desecrate the sacred offerings the Israelites present to the LORD
causing them to bear guilt requiring a guilt offering, by eating their sacred donations: for I am the Lord; I sanctify them. 16 by allowing them to eat the sacred offerings and so bring upon them guilt requiring payment. I am the LORD, who makes them holy.' "
The Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 17 The LORD said to Moses,
Speak to Aaron and his sons and all the people of Israel and say to them: When anyone of the house of Israel or of the aliens residing in Israel presents an offering, whether in payment of a vow or as a freewill offering that is offered to the Lord as a burnt offering, 18 "Speak to Aaron and his sons and to all the Israelites and say to them: 'If any of you--either an Israelite or an alien living in Israel--presents a gift for a burnt offering to the LORD, either to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering,
to be acceptable in your behalf it shall be a male without blemish, of the cattle or the sheep or the goats. 19 you must present a male without defect from the cattle, sheep or goats in order that it may be accepted on your behalf.
You shall not offer anything that has a blemish, for it will not be acceptable in your behalf. 20 Do not bring anything with a defect, because it will not be accepted on your behalf.
When anyone offers a sacrifice of well-being to the Lord, in fulfillment of a vow or as a freewill offering, from the herd or from the flock, to be acceptable it must be perfect; there shall be no blemish in it. 21 When anyone brings from the herd or flock a fellowship offering to the LORD to fulfill a special vow or as a freewill offering, it must be without defect or blemish to be acceptable.
Anything blind, or injured, or maimed, or having a discharge or an itch or scabs—these you shall not offer to the Lord or put any of them on the altar as offerings by fire to the Lord. 22 Do not offer to the LORD the blind, the injured or the maimed, or anything with warts or festering or running sores. Do not place any of these on the altar as an offering made to the LORD by fire.
An ox or a lamb that has a limb too long or too short you may present for a freewill offering; but it will not be accepted for a vow. 23 You may, however, present as a freewill offering an ox or a sheep that is deformed or stunted, but it will not be accepted in fulfillment of a vow.
Any animal that has its testicles bruised or crushed or torn or cut, you shall not offer to the Lord; such you shall not do within your land, 24 You must not offer to the LORD an animal whose testicles are bruised, crushed, torn or cut. You must not do this in your own land,
nor shall you accept any such animals from a foreigner to offer as food to your God; since they are mutilated, with a blemish in them, they shall not be accepted in your behalf. 25 and you must not accept such animals from the hand of a foreigner and offer them as the food of your God. They will not be accepted on your behalf, because they are deformed and have defects.' "
The Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 26 The LORD said to Moses,
When an ox or a sheep or a goat is born, it shall remain seven days with its mother, and from the eighth day on it shall be acceptable as the Lord's offering by fire. 27 "When a calf, a lamb or a goat is born, it is to remain with its mother for seven days. From the eighth day on, it will be acceptable as an offering made to the LORD by fire.
But you shall not slaughter, from the herd or the flock, an animal with its young on the same day. 28 Do not slaughter a cow or a sheep and its young on the same day.
When you sacrifice a thanksgiving offering to the Lord, you shall sacrifice it so that it may be acceptable in your behalf. 29 "When you sacrifice a thank offering to the LORD, sacrifice it in such a way that it will be accepted on your behalf.
It shall be eaten on the same day; you shall not leave any of it until morning: I am the Lord. 30 It must be eaten that same day; leave none of it till morning. I am the LORD.
Thus you shall keep my commandments and observe them: I am the Lord. 31 "Keep my commands and follow them. I am the LORD.
You shall not profane my holy name, that I may be sanctified among the people of Israel: I am the Lord; I sanctify you, 32 Do not profane my holy name. I must be acknowledged as holy by the Israelites. I am the LORD, who makes you holy
I who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God: I am the Lord. 33 and who brought you out of Egypt to be your God. I am the LORD."
