When He had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him. 1 When he came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him.
And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean." 2 A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean."
Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, "I am willing; be cleansed." Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. 3 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!" Immediately he was cured of his leprosy.
And Jesus said to him, "See that you tell no one; but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them." 4 Then Jesus said to him, "See that you don't tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them."
Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, 5 When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help.
saying, "Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented." 6 "Lord," he said, "my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering."
And Jesus said to him, "I will come and heal him." 7 Jesus said to him, "I will go and heal him."
The centurion answered and said, "Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. 8 The centurion replied, "Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come,' and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it." 9 For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and that one, 'Come,' and he comes. I say to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."
When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, "Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel! 10 When Jesus heard this, he was astonished and said to those following him, "I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.
And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. 11 I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.
But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." 12 But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you." And his servant was healed that same hour. 13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go! It will be done just as you believed it would." And his servant was healed at that very hour.
Now when Jesus had come into Peter's house, He saw his wife's mother lying sick with a fever. 14 When Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw Peter's mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever.
So He touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she arose and served them. 15 He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him.
When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, 16 When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.
that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: "He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses." 17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: "He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases."
And when Jesus saw great multitudes about Him, He gave a command to depart to the other side. 18 When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other side of the lake.
Then a certain scribe came and said to Him, "Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go." 19 Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go."
And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head." 20 Jesus replied, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."
Then another of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, let me first go and bury my father." 21 Another disciple said to him, "Lord, first let me go and bury my father."
But Jesus said to him, "Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead." 22 But Jesus told him, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead."
Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him. 23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him.
And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep. 24 Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping.
Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, "Lord, save us! We are perishing!" 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We're going to drown!"
But He said to them, "Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?" Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. 26 He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
So the men marveled, saying, "Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?" 27 The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!"
When He had come to the other side, to the country of the Gergesenes, there met Him two demon-possessed men, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that no one could pass that way. 28 When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way.
And suddenly they cried out, saying, "What have we to do with You, Jesus, You Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?" 29 "What do you want with us, Son of God?" they shouted. "Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?"
Now a good way off from them there was a herd of many swine feeding. 30 Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding.
So the demons begged Him, saying, "If You cast us out, permit us to go away into the herd of swine." 31 The demons begged Jesus, "If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs."
And He said to them, "Go." So when they had come out, they went into the herd of swine. And suddenly the whole herd of swine ran violently down the steep place into the sea, and perished in the water. 32 He said to them, "Go!" So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water.
Then those who kept them fled; and they went away into the city and told everything, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men. 33 Those tending the pigs ran off, went into the town and reported all this, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men.
And behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus. And when they saw Him, they begged Him to depart from their region. 34 Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region.
