New Century Version (NCV) New International Version (NIV)
Happy are those who don't listen to the wicked, who don't go where sinners go, who don't do what evil people do. 1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.
They love the Lord's teachings, and they think about those teachings day and night. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.
They are strong, like a tree planted by a river. The tree produces fruit in season, and its leaves don't die. Everything they do will succeed. 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
But wicked people are not like that. They are like chaff that the wind blows away. 4 Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away.
So the wicked will not escape God's punishment. Sinners will not worship with God's people. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
This is because the Lord takes care of his people, but the wicked will be destroyed. 6 For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
