Bless the LORD, my soul. The LORD, my God, you are very great. You are clothed with honor and majesty. 1 Praise the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendor and majesty.
He covers himself with light as with a garment. He stretches out the heavens like a curtain. 2 He wraps himself in light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens like a tent
He lays the beams of his chambers in the waters. He makes the clouds his chariot. He walks on the wings of the wind. 3 and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters. He makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind.
He makes his messengers winds; His servants flames of fire. 4 He makes winds his messengers, flames of fire his servants.
He laid the foundations of the eretz, That it should not be moved forever. 5 He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved.
You covered it with the deep as with a cloak. The waters stood above the mountains. 6 You covered it with the deep as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains.
At your rebuke they fled. At the voice of your thunder they hurried away. 7 But at your rebuke the waters fled, at the sound of your thunder they took to flight;
The mountains rose, The valleys sank down, To the place which you had assigned to them. 8 they flowed over the mountains, they went down into the valleys, to the place you assigned for them.
You have set a boundary that they may not pass over; That they don't turn again to cover the eretz. 9 You set a boundary they cannot cross; never again will they cover the earth.
He sends forth springs into the valleys. They run among the mountains. 10 He makes springs pour water into the ravines; it flows between the mountains.
They give drink to every animal of the field. The wild donkeys quench their thirst. 11 They give water to all the beasts of the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst.
The birds of the sky nest by them. They sing among the branches. 12 The birds of the air nest by the waters; they sing among the branches.
He waters the mountains from his chambers. The eretz is filled with the fruit of your works. 13 He waters the mountains from his upper chambers; the earth is satisfied by the fruit of his work.
He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, And plants for man to cultivate, That he may bring forth food out of the eretz: 14 He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate-- bringing forth food from the earth:
Wine that makes glad the heart of man, Oil to make his face to shine, And bread that strengthens man's heart. 15 wine that gladdens the heart of man, oil to make his face shine, and bread that sustains his heart.
The LORD's trees are well watered, The cedars of Levanon, which he has planted; 16 The trees of the LORD are well watered, the cedars of Lebanon that he planted.
Where the birds make their nests. The stork makes its home in the fir trees. 17 There the birds make their nests; the stork has its home in the pine trees.
The high mountains are for the wild goats. The rocks are a refuge for the rock badgers. 18 The high mountains belong to the wild goats; the crags are a refuge for the coneys.
He appointed the moon for seasons. The sun knows when to set. 19 The moon marks off the seasons, and the sun knows when to go down.
You make darkness, and it is night, In which all the animals of the forest prowl. 20 You bring darkness, it becomes night, and all the beasts of the forest prowl.
The young lions roar after their prey, And seek their food from God. 21 The lions roar for their prey and seek their food from God.
The sun rises, and they steal away, And lay down in their dens. 22 The sun rises, and they steal away; they return and lie down in their dens.
Man goes forth to his work, To his labor until the evening. 23 Then man goes out to his work, to his labor until evening.
The LORD, how many are your works! In wisdom have you made them all. The eretz is full of your riches. 24 How many are your works, O LORD! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.
There is the sea, great and wide, In which are innumerable living things, Both small and great animals. 25 There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number-- living things both large and small.
There the ships go, And livyatan, whom you formed to play there. 26 There the ships go to and fro, and the leviathan, which you formed to frolic there.
These all wait for you, That you may give them their food in due season. 27 These all look to you to give them their food at the proper time.
You give to them; they gather. You open your hand; they are satisfied with good. 28 When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are satisfied with good things.
You hide your face: they are troubled; You take away their breath: they die, and return to the dust. 29 When you hide your face, they are terrified; when you take away their breath, they die and return to the dust.
You send forth your Spirit: they are created. You renew the face of the ground. 30 When you send your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the earth.
Let the glory of the LORD endure forever. Let the LORD rejoice in his works. 31 May the glory of the LORD endure forever; may the LORD rejoice in his works--
He looks at the eretz, and it trembles. He touches the mountains, and they smoke. 32 he who looks at the earth, and it trembles, who touches the mountains, and they smoke.
I will sing to the LORD as long as I live. I will sing praise to my God while I have any being. 33 I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
Let your meditation be sweet to him. I will rejoice in the LORD. 34 May my meditation be pleasing to him, as I rejoice in the LORD.
Let sinners be consumed out of the eretz. Let the wicked be no more. Bless the LORD, my soul. Praise the LORD! 35 But may sinners vanish from the earth and the wicked be no more. Praise the LORD, O my soul. Praise the LORD.
