| 1 O give thanks unto the LORD, call upon His name; make known His deeds among the people. | 1 Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. |
| 2 Sing unto Him, sing psalms unto Him; talk ye of all His wondrous works. | 2 Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. |
| 3 Glory ye in His holy name; let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. | 3 Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice. |
| 4 Seek the LORD and His strength; seek His face evermore. | 4 Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always. |
| 5 Remember His marvelous works that He hath done, His wonders and the judgments of His mouth, | 5 Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced, |
| 6 O ye seed of Abraham, His servant, ye children of Jacob, His chosen. | 6 O descendants of Abraham his servant, O sons of Jacob, his chosen ones. |
| 7 He is the LORD our God; His judgments are over all the earth. | 7 He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth. |
| 8 He hath remembered His covenant for ever, the word which He commanded to a thousand generations, | 8 He remembers his covenant forever, the word he commanded, for a thousand generations, |
| 9 which covenant He made with Abraham, and His oath unto Isaac, | 9 the covenant he made with Abraham, the oath he swore to Isaac. |
| 10 and confirmed the same unto Jacob as a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant, | 10 He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant: |
| 11 saying, "Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance," | 11 "To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion you will inherit." |
| 12 when they were but a few men in number, yea, very few and strangers in it. | 12 When they were but few in number, few indeed, and strangers in it, |
| 13 When they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people, | 13 they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another. |
| 14 He suffered no man to do them wrong; yea, He reproved kings for their sakes, | 14 He allowed no one to oppress them; for their sake he rebuked kings: |
| 15 saying, "Touch not Mine anointed, and do My prophets no harm." | 15 "Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm." |
| 16 Moreover He called for a famine upon the land; He broke the whole staff of bread. | 16 He called down famine on the land and destroyed all their supplies of food; |
| 17 He sent a man before them, even Joseph who was sold as a servant, | 17 and he sent a man before them-- Joseph, sold as a slave. |
| 18 whose feet they hurt with fetters; he was laid in irons. | 18 They bruised his feet with shackles, his neck was put in irons, |
| 19 Until the time when his word came to pass, the word of the LORD tried him. | 19 till what he foretold came to pass, till the word of the LORD proved him true. |
| 20 The king sent and loosed him, even the ruler of the people, and let him go free. | 20 The king sent and released him, the ruler of peoples set him free. |
| 21 He made him lord of his house and ruler of all his possessions, | 21 He made him master of his household, ruler over all he possessed, |
| 22 to command his princes at his pleasure and teach his elders wisdom. | 22 to instruct his princes as he pleased and teach his elders wisdom. |
| 23 Israel also came into Egypt, and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham. | 23 Then Israel entered Egypt; Jacob lived as an alien in the land of Ham. |
| 24 And He increased His people greatly, and made them stronger than their enemies. | 24 The LORD made his people very fruitful; he made them too numerous for their foes, |
| 25 He turned their heart to hate His people and to deal subtly with His servants. | 25 whose hearts he turned to hate his people, to conspire against his servants. |
| 26 He sent Moses His servant, and Aaron whom He had chosen. | 26 He sent Moses his servant, and Aaron, whom he had chosen. |
| 27 They showed His signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham. | 27 They performed his miraculous signs among them, his wonders in the land of Ham. |
| 28 He sent darkness and made it dark, and they rebelled not against His word. | 28 He sent darkness and made the land dark-- for had they not rebelled against his words? |
| 29 He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish. | 29 He turned their waters into blood, causing their fish to die. |
| 30 Their land brought forth frogs in abundance, even in the chambers of their kings. | 30 Their land teemed with frogs, which went up into the bedrooms of their rulers. |
| 31 He spoke and there came divers sorts of flies and lice in all their borders. | 31 He spoke, and there came swarms of flies, and gnats throughout their country. |
| 32 He gave them hail for rain and flaming fire in their land. | 32 He turned their rain into hail, with lightning throughout their land; |
| 33 He smote their vines also and their fig trees, and broke the trees of their borders. | 33 he struck down their vines and fig trees and shattered the trees of their country. |
| 34 He spoke and the locusts came, and caterpillars without number, | 34 He spoke, and the locusts came, grasshoppers without number; |
| 35 and they ate up all the herbs in their land and devoured the fruit of their ground. | 35 they ate up every green thing in their land, ate up the produce of their soil. |
| 36 He smote also all the firstborn in their land, the chief of all their strength. | 36 Then he struck down all the firstborn in their land, the firstfruits of all their manhood. |
| 37 He brought them forth also with silver and gold, and there was not one feeble person among their tribes. | 37 He brought out Israel, laden with silver and gold, and from among their tribes no one faltered. |
| 38 Egypt was glad when they departed, for the fear of them had fallen upon them. | 38 Egypt was glad when they left, because dread of Israel had fallen on them. |
| 39 He spread a cloud for a covering and fire to give light in the night. | 39 He spread out a cloud as a covering, and a fire to give light at night. |
| 40 The people asked, and He brought quails and satisfied them with the bread of heaven. | 40 They asked, and he brought them quail and satisfied them with the bread of heaven. |
| 41 He opened the rock and the waters gushed out, and ran in the dry places like a river. | 41 He opened the rock, and water gushed out; like a river it flowed in the desert. |
| 42 For He remembered His holy promise and Abraham His servant. | 42 For he remembered his holy promise given to his servant Abraham. |
| 43 And He brought forth His people with joy, His chosen with gladness, | 43 He brought out his people with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy; |
| 44 and gave them the lands of the heathen; and they inherited the labor of the people, | 44 he gave them the lands of the nations, and they fell heir to what others had toiled for-- |
| 45 that they might observe His statutes and keep His laws. Praise ye the LORD! | 45 that they might keep his precepts and observe his laws. Praise the LORD. |
