In Jehovah do I take refuge: How say ye to my soul, Flee [as] a bird to your mountain; 1 In the LORD I take refuge. How then can you say to me: "Flee like a bird to your mountain.
For, lo, the wicked bend the bow, They make ready their arrow upon the string, That they may shoot in darkness at the upright in heart; 2 For look, the wicked bend their bows; they set their arrows against the strings to shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart.
If the foundations be destroyed, What can the righteous do? 3 When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do ?"
Jehovah is in his holy temple; Jehovah, his throne is in heaven; His eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. 4 The LORD is in his holy temple; the LORD is on his heavenly throne. He observes the sons of men; his eyes examine them.
Jehovah trieth the righteous; But the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. 5 The LORD examines the righteous, but the wicked and those who love violence his soul hates.
Upon the wicked he will rain snares; Fire and brimstone and burning wind shall be the portion of their cup. 6 On the wicked he will rain fiery coals and burning sulfur; a scorching wind will be their lot.
For Jehovah is righteous; He loveth righteousness: The upright shall behold his face. 7 For the LORD is righteous, he loves justice; upright men will see his face.
