New Living Translation (NLT) New International Version (NIV)
I love the LORD because he hears and answers my prayers. 1 I love the LORD, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy.
Because he bends down and listens, I will pray as long as I have breath! 2 Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live.
Death had its hands around my throat; the terrors of the grave overtook me. I saw only trouble and sorrow. 3 The cords of death entangled me, the anguish of the grave came upon me; I was overcome by trouble and sorrow.
Then I called on the name of the LORD: "Please, LORD, save me!" 4 Then I called on the name of the LORD: "O LORD, save me!"
How kind the LORD is! How good he is! So merciful, this God of ours! 5 The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion.
The LORD protects those of childlike faith; I was facing death, and then he saved me. 6 The LORD protects the simplehearted; when I was in great need, he saved me.
Now I can rest again, for the LORD has been so good to me. 7 Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the LORD has been good to you.
He has saved me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling. 8 For you, O LORD, have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling,
And so I walk in the LORD's presence as I live here on earth! 9 that I may walk before the LORD in the land of the living.
I believed in you, so I prayed, "I am deeply troubled, LORD." 10 I believed; therefore I said, "I am greatly afflicted."
In my anxiety I cried out to you, "These people are all liars!" 11 And in my dismay I said, "All men are liars."
What can I offer the LORD for all he has done for me? 12 How can I repay the LORD for all his goodness to me?
I will lift up a cup symbolizing his salvation; I will praise the LORD's name for saving me. 13 I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD.
I will keep my promises to the LORD in the presence of all his people. 14 I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people.
The LORD's loved ones are precious to him; it grieves him when they die. 15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
O LORD, I am your servant; yes, I am your servant, the son of your handmaid, and you have freed me from my bonds! 16 O LORD, truly I am your servant; I am your servant, the son of your maidservant; you have freed me from my chains.
I will offer you a sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD. 17 I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the LORD.
I will keep my promises to the LORD in the presence of all his people, 18 I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people,
in the house of the LORD, in the heart of Jerusalem. Praise the LORD! 19 in the courts of the house of the LORD-- in your midst, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD.
