Good News Translation (GNT) New International Version (NIV)
When I was in trouble, I called to the Lord, and he answered me. 1 I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me.
Save me, Lord, from liars and deceivers. 2 Save me, O LORD, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.
You liars, what will God do to you? How will he punish you? 3 What will he do to you, and what more besides, O deceitful tongue?
With a soldier's sharp arrows, with red-hot coals! 4 He will punish you with a warrior's sharp arrows, with burning coals of the broom tree.
Living among you is as bad as living in Meshech or among the people of Kedar. 5 Woe to me that I dwell in Meshech, that I live among the tents of Kedar!
I have lived too long with people who hate peace! 6 Too long have I lived among those who hate peace.
When I speak of peace, they are for war. 7 I am a man of peace; but when I speak, they are for war.
