A song of ascents: Since I was young they have often attacked me -let Isra'el repeat it 1 They have greatly oppressed me from my youth-- let Israel say--
since I was young they have often attacked me, but they haven't overcome me. 2 they have greatly oppressed me from my youth, but they have not gained the victory over me.

Let them be like grass on the roof, which dries out before it grows up 6 May they be like grass on the roof, which withers before it can grow;
and never fills the reaper's hands or the arms of the one who binds sheaves, 7 with it the reaper cannot fill his hands, nor the one who gathers fill his arms.
so that no passer-by says, "ADONAI's blessing on you! We bless you in the name of ADONAI!" 8 May those who pass by not say, "The blessing of the LORD be upon you; we bless you in the name of the LORD."
